Tarte Clay Foundation Stick | 12 hour Wearability?
Hi loves, today I will be reviewing the Tarte Clay Foundation Stick. The Amazonian Clay line has been one of the main reasons Tarte has excelled as a company. As they use such amazing natural ingredients, this is what originally drew me to purchasing from Tarte.
I have wore the foundation for 12 hours to test the claims of the foundation and gave me a good insight into how the foundation will perform overall.
Claims of this foundation:
- 12 hour wear
- Suitable for all skin types
- Multitasking stick, which can be used as foundation, concealer and contour/highlight
- Amazonian clay is said to change to cater to all skin concerns. Meaning it will provide hydration to dry areas, mattify oily areas, conceal imperfections and smooth skin overall.
Background on my skin:
My skin type is normal to dry, depending on weather and how well I have been taking care of my skin. I currently have some dryness under my eye area and a little around my smile lines and nostrils.
When applying the foundation, I set it extremely lightly with powder as I am experiencing dryness and did not want to emphasis any dry skin.
I should also note that I typically find most foundations to go a little patchy around nose due to touching this area and wiping my nose (I get very runny nose and nose bleeds from time to time).
I found that this foundation was very creamy and glided onto face nicely. The foundation blended beautifully, I was actually surprised how easily it blended. It did seem rather slick, though once blended it gave a natural finish. There was a slight glow to the skin once applied. The coverage I would say is medium, though it is very easily buildable to full coverage. It is one of those “your skin but better” foundations and truly looks like your skin!
Also, as a side note I must admit I love the look of the sleek bullet design. I am a sucker for packaging and really love the marble, clay like effect on the top of the foundation. Now on to the wear test.
I was checking in every hour to see any changes in the foundations performance and if there was any patching or removal of product throughout the day.
Little to no changes, still looks good on skin. It has settled well into skin, and has not moved around.
I notice the foundation gets more “skin-like” as the day goes on, which is great!
The foundation is still giving that healthy glow and still looks good.
I noticed some slight separation just above my left eyebrow, though this may have been due to not setting face fully.
There is a little more dewiness to the skin, but not any oiliness.
Noticing slight patchiness and some foundation has come off around nostrils.
Little more separating happening around nose, nothing major.
Still looks like your skin but better, and quite fresh considering it has been on such a long time.
Holding up VERY well, no further patchiness or separating noticed.
No final changes.
I have to say, this foundation surpassed my expectations tremendously. Seriously, I did not expect it to last more than 8 hours, without major shifting or emphasis to dry areas. However I am pleasantly surprised and thrilled to have bite the bullet to try the foundation out. I would recommend setting the foundation well if wearing it longer than 7 hours, however as this would avoid any patchiness I had encountered.
This foundation would be a perfect everyday foundation, as it is medium. Also, it would look gorgeous when built up to a full coverage for an event. I will be reaching for this foundation on a regular basis from now on and look forward to using it again.
I hope you enjoyed this very brief overview of the Tarte foundation stick. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to comment down below or contact me via email and I will be happy to help.
Much love, S 💋 xo
